McGowan strikes out 15 in five-inning perfect game
Junior Taylor McGowan threw a five-inning perfect game with seven strikeouts for her seventh shutout of the season and went 2-for-3 with a homer and three RBIs for Bay Shore in a 12-0 win over Sachem North Monday in Suffolk League II softball. Giana Panariello went 2-for-3 with a double, triple and two RBIs for Bay Shore (17-0).
Kings Park 12, Harborfields 0: Junior Lindsay Taylor threw a five-inning no-hitter - her eighth of the season - walking one and striking out 15, including the 750th of her career to lead Kings Park (17-1) in League V. Taylor has 761 strikeouts during her four years on varsity. Alysia Chendemi went 2-for-2 for Kings Park.
Sachem East 7, Ward Melville 3: Kristen Bagley went 3-for-3 to lead Sachem East (13-4) in League I.
Islip 4, Huntington 0: Alex DeVries struck out eight in a four-hitter and went 4-for-4 with three RBIs to lead Islip (10-6) in League V. Jackie Alvarado went 2-for-3 with three runs.
Hauppauge 13, Comsewogue 0: Marietta Silliman went 4-for-4 and Nicole Ehlinger went 2-for-4 with four RBIs, including a three-run home run for Hauppauge (16-1) in League V. Kayla Conover threw a three-hitter, walked none and had 12 strikeouts.
Miller Place 2, Rocky Point 1: Sara Battey hit a single, stole second and scored on a single by Marlaina Sherman in the bottom of the sixth to give Miller Place (7-8) a 2-1 lead in League VI.
Ross/Shelter Island 6, Mattituck 4: Emma Betual's single drove in Patricia Milligan to make it 6-3 for Ross (2-15) in League VIII.
St. John the Baptist 5, Our Lady of Mercy 1: Allie Cain's triple drove in Sarah Giammarese and Ryan Quick in the seventh to give SJB (13-3) a 3-1 lead in CHSAA. Giammarese doubled in Christina Vitale from second to tie the score at 1 in the seventh for SJB.
Kellenberg 7, Holy Trinity 5: Jackie Marino's two-out, two-run single in the sixth drove in Emily Barnable and Moira Cosgrove to break a tie at 5 for Kellenberg (12-4) in CHSAA.
St. Mary's 5, St. Dominic 3: Nicole Croquez struck out seven, walked two and hit a triple to lead St. Mary's (1-15) in CHSAA. Sophomore Katie Werthmuller went 2-for-3 with two runs for St. Mary's.
MacArthur 7, Plainedge 4: Krissy Day went 2-for-3 with two triples and two runs and Kristen Daly went 2-for-2 with at triple and two RBIs to lead MacArthur (13-5) in non-league.
North Shore 3, Oyster Bay 1: Allison Grande singled in Anne Duffy in the fourth inning to give North Shore (14-3) a 2-1 lead in non-league. Grande went 3-for-4 with two RBIs. Clarke 10, Oceanside 6: Annmarie Vaccheo went 2-for-3 and Danielle Ferrara went 2-for-4 with three RBIs for Clarke (7-9) in non-league.
BOYS VOLLEYBALL
Kellenberg 3, St. Francis Prep 1: Tom Madelmayer had 14 kills and Joe Lynch had 35 assists to lead Kellenberg to a 30-28, 21-25, 25-18, 27-25 victory in the quarterfinals of the CHSAA tournament.
GIRLS BADMINTON
Great Neck South 7, Great Neck North 0: Claudia Kim and Mabel Lee won, 21-13, 14-21, 21-17, at fourth doubles to lead Great Neck South in the Nassau quarterfinals. GNS will play Hempstead in the semifinals Wednesday at Great Neck South.
St. Anthony's 4, Our Lady of Mercy 3: Sarah Gregori and Chelsea Broderick defeated Courtney Grillo and Jackie Durant, 21-18, 19-21, 21-12, at fourth doubles to lead St. Anthony's (11-0), which won the CHSAA championship for the first time since 2003.
