Murphy nets game-winner for Floyd
Junior Courtney Murphy tallied a career-high 10 goals and one assist and scored the game-winner with 1:44 left in the second overtime Wednesday, while Chelsey Sidaras made a key save with 20 seconds left for Floyd (1-3), which defeated Smithtown East 15-14 in Division I. Floyd's Fallon Grosso scored with 1:39 left in regulation to tie the game at 12 and Murphy scored twice in the first OT before Smithtown's Michelle Scannell and Marisa Grennan tied the game at 14.
Northport 22, Commack 8: Junior Cortney Fortunato had a career-high 10 goals and two assists for Northport (3-1) in Division I.
Division 7, Calhoun 6: Jenna Rothar scored off a free position with 24 seconds to win it for Division (1-3) in Conference B-I.
Wantagh 12, Manhasset 11: Cassidy Meaney scored the game-winner with 1:06 left on a feed from Colleen Lovett for Wantagh (3-0) in Conference B-II. Wantagh's Kaleigh Craig tied the game at 11 with 3:26 left.
BaseballPierson/Bridgehampton 9, Stony Brook 0: Junior Jake Bennett threw his first career no-hitter, a five-inning effort, for Pierson/Bridgehampton (5-0) in League IX. Bennett walked one and struck out 11 in his first varsity win.
Floral Park 9, Valley Stream South 6: Mitch Calandra went 3-for-4 with two two-run home runs and four RBIs for Floral Park (1-1) in a Conference IV/V crossover.
Herricks 7, Valley Stream North 1: Alex Katz, Travis Finkel and Marty Stevenson combined for a no-hitter to lead Herricks (1-2) in non-league.
Smithtown West 6, Smithtown East 5: John Spirito's bases loaded bunt single in the bottom of the eighth won the game for Smithtown West (4-2) League III.
Chaminade 2, Holy Trinity 1: Joe Romero hit a walkoff, two-out single in the eighth for Chaminade (1-2) in CHSAA.
BOYS LACROSSE
Bayport-Blue Point 15, Babylon 7: Senior Brian White (three goals, six assists) scored his 200th career point on a goal with 9:25 left in the third quarter to lead Bayport-Blue Point (2-1) in Division II.
SOFTBALL
Farmingdale 7, Calhoun 6: Trailing 6-2 entering the seventh, Kerri Ossenfort's RBI triple gave Farmingdale (4-0) a 7-6 lead as they came back in Conference AA-II. Lauren Hill's two-RBI triple cut the deficit to 6-4.
MacArthur 12, Carle Place 4: Senior Kristen Brown went 4-for-5 with three home runs and a career-high eight RBIs to lead MacArthur (5-1) in non-league.
BOYS TRACK
Smithtown West 79, Bay Shore 62: Matt Morganelli, Jr. won the shot put with a school-record throw of 54-7.5 for Smithtown West (1-1) in League III, according to coach Peter Schieck. Karl Nielsen also broke a school record on the pole vault, with a jump of 13-4.
