Nadel, Nerud lead North Shore to victory
Samantha Nadel and Brianna Nerud crossed the finish line together and took first in 18 minutes, 28 seconds Tuesday as North Shore won its 50th straight cross-country conference meet at Bethpage State Park.
Elizabeth Caldwell and Jessica Donohue followed Nadel and Nerud and crossed together in 19:21 as the Vikings, whose conference winning streak dates to the 2008 season, placed nine runners in the top 10. North Shore (13-0) took first ahead of Cold Spring Harbor and Locust Valley.
Ward Melville 26, Sachem East 29: Caroline O'Hea came in second (18:26) in the 3-mile run at Sunken Meadow as Ward Melville (5-0, League II) clinched its 10th straight undefeated league title and won its 51st meet in a row, the longest active streak in Suffolk. Rachel Paul took first in 17:39 for Sachem East (4-1).
Hauppauge 15, Riverhead 50:Christine Eisenberg took first in 19:27 in the 3-mile run at Sunken Meadow as Hauppauge (5-0) captured the League IV championship. BOYS CROSS COUNTRY
Harborfields 15, Rocky Point 45: Austin Coneys, Cameron Coneys, Conor Murphy and Ty Gamble finished in first together in the 3-mile in 16:30 as Harborfields (5-0, League V) won its fifth straight League title and its 27th consecutive league meet dating to 2007.
Shoreham-Wading River 18 ,Babylon 44:John Lee ran to a first-place finish in the 3-mile at Sunken Meadow in 15:54 as Shoreham-Wading River (6-0, League VI) won a League title for the ninth straight year. Tyler Keys took second in 16:17 for SWR.
Hauppauge 19, Deer Park 42:Ryan Colabella and Ronny Cavaliere tied for first in 17:05 at Sunken Meadow to lead Hauppauge (5-0) to the League IV championship. GIRLS TENNIS
Suffolk D-I Finals.Top-seeded Ludmila Yamus (Hills East) beat No. 2 Zenat Rashidzada (Hills West), 6-4, 6-3, in the Division I final at Smithtown East.
In the doubles final, the No. 1 pairing of sisters Mickey and Bridget Harding of Northport defeated No. 2 Malini Desai and Sarah Han of Hills West, 6-1, 6-1. Suffolk D-II Finals.Top-seeded Karen Serina of East Islip beat No. 3 Stefanie Ebo (Sayville), 6-1, 6-1, to capture the Division II Final at East Islip.
In the doubles final, No. 1 Brianna Frame and Sam Sienkiewicz of West Islip topped No. 6 Nicole Damore and Shannon Murphy of East Islip. 6-1, 6-4.
Suffolk D-III Finals. Second-seeded Tylah Gantt (Stony Brook) beat No. 1 Laura Torsiello (Bayport-Blue Point), 6-0, 6-1, in the Division III final at Longwood.
In the doubles final, No. 1 Hanna Lazio and Alicia Kreamar of Patchogue-Medford defeated No. 3 Victoria Makulik and Sydney Schandel (Pat-Med), 6-2, 6-3. Suffolk D-IV Finals. Top-seeded Aimee Manfredo (Shoreham-Wading River) beat No. 2 Erica Bundrick (Mattituck), 5-7, 7-5, 6-3, for the Division IV championship. Mattituck 8.5, Hampton Bays .5: Richie Corazzini, Will Gildersleeve and Brad Tyler each shot 4-over-par 39 on the front nine at Long Island National as Mattituck (11-0) shot 203 and captured its fourth straight League VII title.
