East Islip boys bowling tops Big 10

1. EAST ISLIP BOYS BOWLING. Aaron Rice leads Suffolk with a 236.03 average and his teammate Joseph Zagari ranks third with a 230.70. Chris Andresen bowled a 279 in Game 1 of a 760 series and also rolled a 254 in the first game of a 666 series this week. The Redmen are 12-0 and seeking a third consecutive county title.
2. KELLENBERG GIRLS TRACK. Kellenberg’s 4 x 800-meter relay team — composed of Madeline Lay, Maya Richardson, Margaret McLoughlin and Maureen Lewin — placed second in 9:33.42 at the Yale Track Classic in Connecticut. The time was the fastest on Long Island this season.
3. LONG ISLAND LUTHERAN BOYS BASKETBALL. Andre Curbelo was named the game’s MVP at the Tip of the Hat Showcase at Adelphi after scoring 22 points with seven assists in a 76-55 victory over South Shore (Brooklyn). Jalen Celestine and Tyler Stephenson-Moore each added 22 points for the Crusaders.
4. BALDWIN GIRLS BASKETBALL. The Bruins dominated Plainview-Old Bethpage JFK and Long Beach, winning a combined 128-46. Kaia Harrison had 37 points and eight assists in the two games as they improved to 8-1.
5. MASSAPEQUA WRESTLING. The Chiefs have won 24 straight dual meets and their first Nassau dual-meet title since 2011 with a 54-21 win over Wantagh.
6. WARD MELVILLE BOYS FENCING. The Patriots with wins over Huntington, Lindenhurst, Whitman and Brentwood have won 172 straight regular-season dual meets. Chris Ancona is 20-1 in foil. Leo Takemaru is 17-1 is sabre. Will Lehr is 19-2 and Ben Rogak is 18-2 in epee.
7. EAST ISLIP GIRLS BOWLING. Julia Bocamazo (230.48) and Julianna Spina (230.07) finish the regular season as Long Island’s second and third-place in average, respectively. Natalie Mavrich ranks sixth (216.78).
8. UNIONDALE BOYS TRACK. The Knights are looking strong ahead of Wednesday’s Nassau I championships. On top of having the top triple jump mark on Long Island (48-9), Jadan Hanson also has the top 55 time (6.63), high jump (6-4), and long jump (21-5) marks in the conference.
9. ST. ANTHONY’S BOYS SWIMMING. The Friars improved to 7-0 with a 103-62 victory over Chaminade, led by Justin Meyn winning the 50-yard freestyle (21.50) and 100 free (46.81) and William Swartwout winning the 200 free (1:44.80) and 500 free (4:44.98).
10. SEAFORD GIRLS BOWLING. Paige Donovan stands in second for top Nassau average (190.0), and teammate Marissa Mele follows with a 178.8, leading Seaford (12-0) to its third consecutive undefeated regular season.
