The North Shore girls track team was at it again at the Marine Corps Holiday Classic at the 168th Street Armory Tuesday as the Vikings quartet of Brianna Nerud, Lea Farrell, Liz Caldwell and Samantha Nadel broke the meet and Long Island record in the distance medley relay, taking first in 11 minutes, 43.23 seconds.

North Shore bested the previous record of 11:43.50 set by Bay Shore in 2004. North Shore (Nerud, Caldwell, Nadel, Jessica Donohue) also set a meet record in the 4 x 800 meters, finishing first in 9:19.52. They beat the previous record of 9:31.10 set by Warwick in 2006.

In other girls events, Kellenberg's Odrine Belot and Brittany LeJuan took first in the triple jump relay (70-4 1/2) and helped the Firebirds take third overall. Kellenberg also finished second in the shuttle hurdle relay. Uniondale won the girls shuttle hurdle relay (33.38) and Garden City's Emma Gallagher won the Invitational 800 in 2:21.04.

In boys events, St. Anthony's won the DMR (10:43.99) and Uniondale won the triple jump relay (89-61/2).

BOYS BASKETBALL

Lynbrook 61, East Rockaway 56: Patrick Geiger had eight of his 13 points during an 18-16 fourth quarter for Lynbrook in the Friendship Games at East Rockaway. Mike McVeigh had 13 points and Matt Murphy 11.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Herricks 52, Sewanhaka 36: Alison Ricchiuti had 18 points, nine rebounds and nine assists and Kim Givelechian chipped in 11 points and 10 rebounds to lead Herricks at the Baldwin Holiday Classic. Sewanahaka scored the first eight points of the third to cut a 13-point lead to 31-26 with four minutes left, but Herricks' Sabrina Telmo, who scored all 10 of her points in the second half, stopped the run with a three to put Herricks up 34-26.

Bethpage 63, Glen Cove 32: Danielle Brusca had 16 points and Jackie Zizzo 11 for Bethpage in the Golden Eagles Classic. Bethpage coach Tom Gargiulo picked up his 260th career win and Danielle Nendza had eight points and 14 rebounds for Bethpage, which will play Great Neck North in the final Wednesday at noon.
