Piekos tosses no-hitter for Bayport-Blue Point
Junior Jack Piekos tossed his first no-hitter with 10 strikeouts and two walks as top-seeded Bayport-Blue Point stayed undefeated with a 2-0 win over No. 8 Rocky Point yesterday in a Suffolk Class A first-round baseball game.
Ryan Dollop had an RBI double in the fourth and a run-scoring single in the sixth for Bayport-Blue Point (21-0).
"He didn't have his best fastball, but he was throwing his breaking ball for strikes all day," coach Jim Moccio said. "For him to do this in a game of this magnitude is absolutely huge."
Longwood 5, Sachem East 4: Camden Orologio's RBI single scored Aaron Floyd in the top of the seventh to win it for Longwood (14-8) in a Class AA second-round game. Reliever Kris Killackey tossed two scoreless innings of relief for the win.
Syosset 4, Hicksville 0: Carlos Solorzano tossed a two-hit shutout, with one walk for No. 7 Syosset (14-8) in Game 2 of a Nassau Class AA best-of-three quarterfinal. Kevin Kehne's two-run homer in the bottom of the fifth provided final margin. Game 3 is at 4 p.m. tomorrow at Hicksville.Bethpage 1, Plainedge 0: Chuck Hoffman scored the winning run on an RBI groundout by James Rosentel in the sixth and Ambie Veras scattered five hits, struck out five and walked three in a complete game for No. 4 Bethpage in Game 1 of a Nassau best-of-three Class A quarterfinal. Game 2 is at 4:30 p.m. tomorrow at Plainedge.

East Meadow 5, Massapequa 3: Dina LaRosa went 2-for-3 with three RBIs and Kerri Shapiro had two hits and an RBI to lead No. 1 East Meadow (14-7) to a Nassau Class AA semifinal series sweep.
East Rockaway 1, Oyster Bay 0: Samantha Mantovani scored the winning run in the sixth on a sac fly by Jessica Deptulski and Gianna Cilluffo tossed a one-hitter with two strikeouts for No. 4 East Rockaway (18-4) in Game 2 of a Class B best-of-three semifinal. Game 3 is at 4:15 p.m. tomorrow at the Vernon School in Oyster Bay.
St. Anthony's 3, Sacred Heart 2: Michelle Carbone's two-run single in the third to put St. Anthony's up 3-1 and Aileen Reilly tossed a three-hitter with 10 strikeouts to lead No. 3 St. Anthony's (14-4), which plays No. 2 Kellenberg on Saturday.
Long Island Lutheran 14, Portledge 0: Jen Giambrone went 2-for-3, with a three-run homer, a triple and two runs for No. 1 Long Island Lutheran (16-5) in the IPPSAL final.
