Pierides' four aces lead Carey to volleyball win

Michael Pierides had four aces in the deciding fifth game as Carey overcame an 18-7 deficit for a 3-2 win over Sewanhaka Thursday in Nassau Conference IV boys volleyball.

Kelvin Yam added 15 kills, seven digs, seven blocks and four aces as Carey (1-2) overcame an 0-2 deficit in its 18-25, 20-25, 25-21, 25-22, 26-24 victory.

Herricks 3, Long Beach 2: Joseph Yoon had 26 assists and 14 kills, Matt Marsilia had 16 kills and Joshua Kim had 21 digs a lead Herricks (3-2) overcame an early four-point deficit in the fifth game of its 25-21, 21-25, 25-22, 13-25, 25-22 win in Conference III.Lindenhurst 3, Ward Melville 0: Michael Comens had 10 kills, Robert Sarneckis added 10 kills and Chris Delucie had four kills and 22 assists to lead Lindenhurst (3-0) to a 25-17, 25-21, 25-16 win in Suffolk League I.GIRLS VOLLEYBALL

Rocky Point 3, Miller Place 1: Jessie Vessichio converted 16 consecutive service points, including seven aces, to rally Rocky Point (2-0) from a 20-6 deficit in the second game en route to a 25-19, 25-21, 21-25, 25-17 win in Suffolk League VI. West Hempstead 3, Clarke 0: Nicole Christenson had 13 service points and five kills to lift West Hempstead (1-1) to a 25-5, 25-22, 25-16 win in Nassau Conference BC-I.
