High school playoff roundup: Semifinal action in boys and girls soccer, field hockey and girls volleyball

Connor Leahy scored the winning goal off an assist from Keira McCormack in the second overtime to give No. 4 Bayport-Blue Point a 1-0 win over No. 1 Islip in the Suffolk Class A girls soccer semifinals on Thursday. Alex Kaler made 10 saves. BBP (13-4) will face No. 2 Sayville in the final at 12:30 p.m. on Sunday at Whitman. It will be the Phantoms’ first appearance in the county final since 2011, according to coach Katina Cokinos. Islip finished 13-2.

Sayville 1, Shoreham-Wading River 0: Morgan Farrell scored with two minutes left in the first half to lead No. 2 Sayville over No. 3 Shoreham-Wading River in the Suffolk Class A semifinals. Makayla Farin picked up an assist for Sayville (14-3-1). SWR finished 13-3-2.

WEDNESDAY’S GAME

Garden City 2, Calhoun 0: LeeLee Gaffney scored twice to lead No. 1 Garden City over No. 5 Calhoun in the Nassau Class AA semifinals. Ali Bennett and Sienna Castellano each had an assist and Marisa Patrissi made nine saves. Abby DaSilva made seven saves for Calhoun, which finished 12-6-1. Garden City (12-2-4) will face No. 2 South Side in the final on Sunday at Farmingdale State.

BOYS SOCCER

Glenn 2, Rocky Point 1: Cooper Kassan scored the go-ahead goal off a direct free kick from 20 yards with 12 minutes left in No. 2 Glenn’s win over No. 6 Rocky Point in the Suffolk Class A semifinals at Harborfields. Glenn trailed after Ryan Lane scored off a free kick by Yavuz Kurun for Rocky Point. Isaac Perez scored the equalizer off an assist from Cristian Alfaro on a corner from Jake Piacentini. David Palencia made five saves. Aidan Todaro made six saves for Rocky Point (7-6-3). Glenn (16-2) will face No. 1 Shoreham-Wading River in the final at 10 a.m. on Sunday at Whitman.

Shoreham-Wading River 4, Islip 0: Andrew Stiene had a goal and an assist to lead No. 1 Shoreham-Wading River over No. 5 Islip in the Suffolk Class A semifinals. Evan DeGroot, Dominic Sencadas and John Zoumas also scored for Shoreham-Wading River (17-0). Aidan Biscari made eight saves for Islip, which finished 8-7.

Center Moriches 1, Mattituck 1: Zack Rotunda scored the winning penalty kick to help No. 1 Center Moriches advance over No. 4 Mattituck on penalty kicks, 4-2, in the Suffolk Class B semifinals. Ethan Chernis scored off an assist from Quinn Davidson and Hunter Bernhard made seven saves. Andy Mancia scored for Mattituck (7-6-3) and Cris Cuellar made nine saves. Center Moriches (12-3-2) will face No. 2 Babylon in the final at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday at Southampton.

Aliya Hassett and Emily Shapiro each added a goal. Eva Kyriakidis made 11 saves for East Meadow (11-3). Massapequa (11-6) will face No. 2 Port Washington in the final at 11 a.m. on Sunday at Adelphi.

Port Washington 6, Baldwin 2: Lexi Raskin had two goals and an assist to lead No. 2 Port Washington over No. 3 Baldwin in the Nassau Class A semifinals. Lily Longaro added a goal and an assist for Port Washington (6-9-1). Izzy Fleck had a goal and assisted a goal by Emma Tiong-Smith for Baldwin (2-12).
