Roundup: Zambrotta's 58 points leads Upper Room

Eighth-grader Sydney Zambrotta had 58 points for Upper Room in a 66-26 win over Our Savior New American yesterday Thursday in an IPPSAL girls basketball game.

Zambrotta is averaging 44 points per game and had 51 points in a win over Lexington and 45 in a loss to Solomon Schechter. Upper Room improved to 2-3 in league play.

South Side 59, Jericho 48: Hanna Merrifield had 14 points and seven rebounds to lead South Side (2-3) in Nassau Conference A-I.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Central Islip 78, Bay Shore 51: Junior Tim McKenzie had a career-high 29 points and added 12 rebounds and 10 steals to lift Central Islip (7-0) in Suffolk League II.

Half Hollow Hills West 71, Bellport 59: Junior Mical Boyd scored a career-high 27 points and hit 11 of 13 free throws to lead Half Hollow Hills West (6-1) in League IV. Bellport's Dylan Overton had 20 points.

Lawrence Woodmere 61, St. Demetrius 42: Trent Parrish had 12 of his 19 points during a 28-10 second quarter for Lawrence Woodmere (6-0) in PSAA. Tristan Braverman added 16 points and Rokas Lapsys chipped in 12. Panos Georgoulis had 28 points for St. Demetrius.

Lawrence 2, Oceanside 1: John Feuerstein (640 series) struck out in the tenth frame of the third game to help Lawrence (11-1) clinch the Nassau Conference V championship with a 803-746, 819-871, 814-756 win.

Comsewogue 3, Sayville 0: Clay Moosmueller rolled 245 in Game 2 of a 684 series, Nick Eckert shot 231 in the first game of a 624 series and Brandon Perez had 243 in Game 2 of a 612 series to lift Comsewogue (11-0) in a 1,021-950, 990-965, 1,050-965 win in League IV.

GIRLS BOWLING

Freeport 3, Hewlett 0: Yalitza Rodriguez bowled 216 in Game 1 of a 517 series to lift Freeport (11-1) to the Nassau Conference V championship with a 609-389, 525-357, 598-390 victory.

Middle Country 3, Patchogue-Medford 0: Kelly Skalacki rolled 247 in Game 1 of a 659 series to lead Middle Country (9-2) to a 1,063-791, 956-761, 993-647 win in Suffolk League I.
