Sachem North boys volleyball claims top spot in Big 10 for third straight week

1. SACHEM NORTH BOYS VOLLEYBALL
Sachem North improved to 11-0 and extended its win streak to 31 with straight-set wins over Commack and Hauppauge. Ralph Lunati had 12 kills and Rob Nolan added 17 digs in the win over Commack. Matt Grace had 24 assists in the win against Hauppauge.
2. MASSAPEQUA GIRLS VOLLEYBALL
Massapequa continues to roll through Nassau AA-I opponents, taking care of Port Washington in three sets. Massapequa is at the top of the class by a wide margin in Nassau.
The Dalers had offensive balance in a 49-17 win over Plainview JFK. Tommy McPartland caught three passes for 136 yards and two scores and Jordan McLune added 118 yards rushing and two scores as the Dalers moved to 6-0.
The Trojans are a juggernaut. Michaela Bruno has 10 points through her last four games and Garden City outscored its opponents 26-0 over that span. Bruno leads the team with 25 points and Emily Clarke has 20.
The defending Suffolk champions are undefeated and the team to beat in the county team championships this week.
The Chiefs outscored opponents 15-0 and won all three of their games last week. Hope Breslin had two goals and an assist in a 7-0 win over Calhoun, a goal in a 2-0 win over MacArthur, and another goal, her 20th, in a 6-0 win over Port Washington.
7. SYOSSET GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY
The Braves won Nassau Conference I, finishing 13-0. At a Nassau triangular meet, Syosset topped Massapequa and Plainview JFK. Kayla Beovich finished the 5K race third in 21:18.20. Samantha DeStefani was fourth in 21:18.55.
The Wolverines took a 33-0 first-quarter lead and routed previously unbeaten West Islip, 46-14. Quarterback Ryan Klemm threw for four touchdowns, including two to wideout Elijah Riley. Do-everything receiver Jelani Greene added three scores on a 60-yard punt return, 25-yard fumble return and a 54-yard reception.
Andrew Smith had 11 kills in a 25-11, 25-22, 25-21 Nassau A-I win. Matt Fasulo added eight kills for Massapequa (11-0).
Davien Kuinlan rushed for 281 yards and scored three touchdowns in a 38-0 rout of Lawrence. He is approaching the Nassau career rushing record of 5,841 yards held by Jerone Pettus of Freeport and Roosevelt.
