Long Island's Diamond Stars: Top performances this week in high school baseball and softball

BASEBALL
C.J. Alfano, St. Anthony’s: In a three-game series sweep over St. Mary’s, he reached base safely in all 13 plate appearances, going 3-for-3 with two home runs, 10 walks, four RBIs, nine runs and two stolen bases. The sweep gave St. Anthony’s the NSCHSAA title.
JT Bonventre, Center Moriches: He went 3-for-4 with two doubles and two runs in an 8-6 win over Shoreham-Wading River.
Aidan Casey, St. John the Baptist: He went 3-for-4 and had the walk-off single in the seventh inning in a 3-2 win over St. Dominic.
Jack Doucet, Connetquot: He pitched a four-hit shutout in a 2-0 win over Commack. He struck out six and walked three.
Michael Garcia, St. John the Baptist: He struck out six in five innings and homered in a 12-2 win over St. Dominic.
Connor Jones, Floral Park: He struck out 16 and walked none in a 9-0 win over Valley Stream North. He also had a double, an RBI and two runs.
Matt Kurz, Clarke: He struck out seven in five innings, hit a home run and had three RBIs in a 14-3 win over Mepham. Clarke clinched the Conference AA-III title with the win.
Ricky Nunez, Lindenhurst: He fired a one-hitter with 10 strikeouts in a 9-0 win over Bay Shore. He also had two hits, including a double and a home run with four runs.
Lucas Patton, East Islip: He struck out nine in a 3-1 win over Smithtown West. His RBI single sparked a three-run fifth.
Casey Quinn, Wheatley: He scattered three hits and struck out 10 in a 6-0 win over North Shore.
Peter Rahaniotis, Lynbrook: He hit a two-run, walk-off double in the bottom of the seventh in a 7-6 win over Valley Stream North. He went 3-for-3.
Joe Rotondaro, Seaford: His two-out RBI single drove in Matt Kind for a 5-4 walk-off win over Locust Valley. He finished 4-for-4 with three RBIs.
Trevor Smith, East Meadow: He went 3-for-4 with three runs and earned the save in a 9-7 win over Syosset.
Mason Wei, Syosset: He pitched two innings of scoreless relief and struck out two in a 7-6 win over East Meadow. His walk-off RBI won it in the eighth.
SOFTBALL
Josie Ahn, Syosset: She went 2-for-3 with a home run and three RBIs in a 5-4 win over MacArthur.
Taylor Aschettino, Rocky Point: She went 3-for-4 with three RBIs and two runs in a 9-7 win over Kings Park.
Caroline Ferchland, Oceanside: She went 2-for-4, including a walk-off single in a 6-5 win over Syosset. She also threw complete-game shutouts against Mepham and MacArthur.
Gia Grimaldi, Glenn: She went 3-for-3 with two RBIs and a run and hit a go-ahead RBI single in the fifth inning of a 5-4 win over Babylon.
Lauren Hofmann, Islip: She struck out 12 in a five-inning no-hitter and went 2-for-4 with a three-run homer in a 12-0 win over Mount Sinai.
Keara Irving, Kellenberg: She went 2-for-2 with two doubles and two RBIs in a 3-2 win over Massapequa.
Alex Livanos, MacArthur: She hit a grand slam and went 3-for-4 with five RBIs and two runs in a 14-6 win over Massapequa.
Lianna Mills, Central Islip: She went 3-for-4 with a home run, two RBIs and three runs in an 8-5 win over Middle Country.
Sierra Roman, Valley Stream Central: She had three hits, including two home runs and four RBIs in a 20-8 win over Elmont.
Delaney Schleider, Miller Place: She went 3-for-3 and hit a go-ahead two-run home run in the fourth inning of a 3-2 win over Rocky Point.

Brooke Simmons, Glen Cove: She struck out 15, had two hits and an RBI in a 3-1 win over Calhoun.
Eva Spiegelman, Roslyn: She went 3-for-3 with a double and two RBIs in a 14-9 win over Great Neck South. She went 2-for-2 with a homer in a 12-0 win over Hempstead.
