Pat Stepnoski drove in his brother, Connor, with a two-run home run in the top of the eighth to give Mercy a four-run lead and the top-seeded Monarchs held on for an 11-9 victory over No. 2 Port Jefferson to complete a two-game sweep in the Suffolk Class C baseball finals.

Joe Crosser stranded the tying runs on second and third base in the bottom of the seventh. It is the first title since 2007 for Mercy, which takes on Friends Academy in the Long Island Championship June 6 at 11 a.m. at Farmingdale State.

Hauppauge 10, Islip 0: Senior Matt Reistetter went 4-for-5 and picked up the 100th RBI of his career in a Suffolk Class A loser's bracket elimination game. Bob Vitulano set the tone for Hauppauge with a leadoff home run in the top of the first inning. Hauppauge (17-6) plays at Shoreham-Wading River Friday at 4 p.m.

Wantagh 5, Plainedge 1: Matt Benedetto's two-run single capped a four-run bottom of the second for No. 1 Wantagh (20-5) in Game 3 of the best-of-three Nassau Class A semifinal. Chris Rom struck out 10 and walked one in a four-hitter. Wantagh will play either Island Trees or Division in Game 1 of the best-of-three finals beginning Monday at 3 p.m. at Farmingdale State.

Softball

Oyster Bay 6, Carle Place 0: Kerri Apicella hit a two-run homer in the fourth to put No. 2 Oyster Bay on the board in Game 3 of the Nassau Class B finals. She threw a three-hitter with 12 strikeouts. Keri Bongiovanni went 3-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs as the Baymen knocked out top-seeded Carle Place. Oyster Bay advances to play Babylon in the Long Island championship June 8 in Nanuet.

Babylon 13, Center Moriches 4: Tiana Giuliano (3-for-4, three runs, five RBIs) had a bases-loaded triple in the second inning to extend the lead for No. 1 Babylon (19-1) to 5-1 over No. 2 Center Moriches and complete a two-game sweep of the Suffolk Class B championship.

BOYS LACROSSE

St. Mary's 8, St. Dominic 5: Sean McCann scored his second goal of the game with 3:20 remaining in the third period to put St. Mary's (19-1) ahead 6-3 in the Class A CHSAA championship game at Adelphi.

Bayport-Blue Point 8, Mt. Sinai 4: Brian White had two goals and three assists and Brian Ward and Brian Anderson had two goals to lead No. 2 Bayport (14-3) past No. 3 Mt. Sinai in the Suffolk Class C semifinals. Bayport-Blue Point will play in its first county final against Glenn Thursday at 5 p.m. at Stony Brook.GIRLS LACROSSE

Manhasset 18, Mineola 10: Halle Majorana had four goals and three assists and Cathryn Avallone had four goals and one assist to lead No. 1 Manhasset past No. 4 Mineola in the Nassau Class C semifinals at Denton Avenue. Manhasset (15-1) advances to play the winner of No. 2 North Shore and No. 3 Cold Spring Harbor Tuesday at Hofstra.

BOYS GOLF

CHSAA Tournament.Chaminade junior Griffin McQuilling shot a 1-under 72 to win the CHSAA individual boys golf title at Eisenhower Red. McQuilling was also named co-player of the year with Mark Reilly of St. John the Baptist, who shot a 2-over 75 to tie for second place with Bobby Keating of Chaminade.

Chaminade (15-0) won its third straight team title, combining for a score of 383; St. Anthony's was second at 393. Seven members of Chaminade and 18 golfers overall shot 81 and under to qualify for the CHSAA state finals June 7 at James Baird State Park in Poughkeepsie.
