With two world-class swimmers on the roster, Sacred Heart Academy dominated the CHSAA championship on Sunday at the Nassau Aquatic Center.

Cavan Gormsen and Tess Howley had two victories apiece forSacred Heart, which won nine of the 11 events.

"I have some pretty talented swimmers on my team, two of which [Gormsen and Howley] went to Europe and competed in the FINA World Cup this year in Berlin and Budapest," coach Mary White said.

Gormsen won the 200-meter and 500-meter freestyle. Howley won the 100 butterfly and 100 backstroke.

"I think they both have aspirations to make the 2024 Olympics," White said. "They both swim for the Long Island Aquatic club, so I’m sure that’s something they have been talking about with those coaches there."

Sacred Heart won all three of the relays (200 medley relay, 200 freestyle relay and 400 freestyle relay). Catherine Dean won the 50 freestyle and freshman Lily Gormsen won the 100 freestyle.

Sacred Heart Academy will send 10 swimmers to represent the CHSAA at the New York State Public High School and Federation meet in Ithaca on Nov. 19.
