Newsday's annual list, in alphabetical order, of the top Long Island public and CHSAA swimmers as the 2025-26 season gets underway. All stats are from last season unless otherwise noted.

Ryan Baldwin, Oceanside, Jr.

He finished second in the 500-yard freestyle (4:31.23) and second in the 100-yard butterfly (48.68) at the state championships. Baldwin won the 100-yard butterfly in 49.19 and finished second in the 500 freestyle in 4:40.02 at the Nassau championships.

Gavin Buckley, Chaminade, Sr.

In 2024, the North Carolina Wilmington commit placed sixth in the federation in the 500-yard freestyle in 4:36.35.

Johnny Casalinuovo, Miller Place, Sr.

Casalinuovo placed second in the 500-yard freestyle (4:48.18) at the Suffolk championships. He placed 18th in the state in the same event in 4:47.72.

Matt Chang, Herricks, Sr.

He was the Nassau champion in the 50-yard freestyle (21.58) and 100 freestyle (46.77). Chang placed fifth in the state in the 100 freestyle (46.48) and seventh in the 50 freestyle (21.10). He also swam for the 400-yard freestyle relay and finished 10th while the 200-free relay finished ninth at the state championships.

Ethan Chinea, Syosset, Jr.

Chinea placed ninth in the 500-yard freestyle (4:41.56) and tied for 13th in the 200-yard freestyle (1:44.28) at the state championships. He also helped the 400-yard freestyle relay team to a seventh-place finish.

Julien Crampe, Garden City, Sr.

Crampe finished fourth at the diving state championships with a score of 523.35. He was second with a score of 571.65 at the Nassau championships.

Eric Czeremcha, Half Hollow Hills/Kings Park, Jr.

He placed third in the 100-yard freestyle (48.77) at the Suffolk finals. He was a member of a 200-yard freestyle relay team that placed eighth at the state championships.

Ernest Czeremcha, Half Hollow Hills/Kings Park, Jr.

He placed third in the 50-yard freestyle (22.44) in the Suffolk finals. He, along with his twin brother, Eric, was also a member of the 200-yard freestyle relay team that placed eighth at the state championships.

Logan Decena, Northport/Commack, Soph.

He placed fifth in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:01.83) at the Suffolk finals. Decena helped his 200-yard medley relay (1:38.54) and freestyle relay (1:28.93) teams to 13th-place finishes at the state championships.

Billy DeWitt, West Islip, Sr.

He finished fourth in the 100-yard freestyle (49.17) at the Suffolk championships. He went on to place 19th in the 100 backstroke (53.43) and 22nd in the 100 butterfly (52.22) at the state championships.

Declan Doran, Connetquot/East Islip, Sr.

Doran placed 11th in the 50-yard freestyle (21.50) and 21st in the 100 free (47.36) at the state championships. He placed seventh in the 50-yard freestyle (22.80) at the Suffolk championships.

Tyler Gallub, Smithtown/Hauppauge, Sr.

Gallub won the 50-yard freestyle (21.24) and 100 free (46.85) at the Suffolk championships. He placed fourth in the 50 free (20.98) at the state championships. He was also a member of the winning 200 medley relay and 200 freestyle relay teams at the Suffolk championships.

Trevor Green, Rocky Point, Sr.

He finished second in the 200-yard individual medley with a personal-best time of 1:49.94 at the state championships. The Minnesota commit won the 100 backstroke (50.49) and 200 IM (1:51.05) at the Suffolk championships.

Andrew Koek, Manhasset, Sr.

He finished second in the 100-yard breaststroke in 55.55 at the state championships. At the Nassau championships, he was second in the 100 breaststroke and fourth in the 200 IM.

Eric Li, Syosset, Soph.

As a freshman, he helped the 400-yard freestyle relay team to a seventh-place finish at the state championships. He also placed 25th in the state in the 200 freestyle (1:46.79). and helped his 200-yard freestyle relay team to a 19th place finish (1:30.34).

Johnny Macko, Bellmore-Merrick, Jr.

He placed 21st in the 500-yard freestyle (4:46.78) and 25th in the 200 individual medley (2:00.79) at the state championships. He helped the 400 freestyle relay team place 13th.

Reid O’Connell, Syosset, Jr.

A Penn State commit, O’Connell finished fifth in the 200-yard individual medley (1:52.61) and ninth in the 100 backstroke (51.60) at the state championships. He also swam in the 200 medley relay (ninth) and 400 free relay (seventh).

Robert Pedersen, Port Washington-Roslyn, Jr.

He placed 26th in the 500-yard freestyle (4:49.86) at the state championships. He placed 12th in the same event in 4:51.89 at the Nassau championships.

Talon Silverstein, Deer Park/North Babylon, Jr.

Silverstein finished 20th in the 100-yard butterfly (53.04) at the state championships. He placed third in the same event in 52.06 at the Suffolk finals.

Matthew Simons, Herricks, Sr.

He placed 15th in the 100-yard breaststroke (59.93) at the state championships. He also swam in the 200 freestyle relay (ninth) and 400 freestyle relay (10th).

Matt Steinberg, Half Hollow Hills/Kings Park, Sr.

He placed 25th in the 100-yard butterfly (32.03) and 26th in the 100 backstroke (53.86) at the state championships. He also swam in the 200 medley relay (15th).

Chris Sweeney, Smithtown/Hauppauge, Sr.

Helped the 200-yard medley and 200-yard freestyle relay teams to fourth-place finishes at the state championships. He also finished eighth in the 100 breaststroke (58.59) and placed 10th in the 50 free (21.26).

Jason Wang, Huntington/Harborfields/Whitman/Glenn, Jr.

Formerly at St. Anthony’s, Wang placed 11th in the 200-yard freestyle (1:50.33) in the state championships. He also helped his 200-yard freestyle relay team to a fifth-place finish at the state CHSAA championship.

Tristan Yang, Jericho, Sr.

He finished second at the state diving championships with a score of 550.95. He won the Nassau title with a score of 583.05.

He finished 12th in the 100-yard butterfly (51.43) and 20th in the 200 freestyle (1:50.64) at the state championships. He also swam in the 200 medley relay (eighth).
