Doubles pair Liz Kallenberg, Astrid Phillipson help Port Washington top Syosset in tennis

Liz Kallenberg and Astrid Phillipson defeated Risha Malhotra and Stacey Denbaum, 6-7 (7-5), 6-4, 6-4 in the deciding match at first doubles as Port Washington edged defending Nassau Conference I girls tennis champion Syosset, 4-3, Monday. Port Washington (4-1) fell to the Braves in the final last year.

Plainview JFK 4, Bellmore JFK 3: Tal Moriah and Alyssa Urban defeated Jackie Himelfarb and Rachel Sandomir, 6-4, 7-5, in the deciding fourth doubles match to lift Plainview JFK (2-3) in Conference 2A.

Mepham 4, Carle Place 3: Erin Gilroy and Jamie Silver defeated Erin Fitzgerald and Emily Cotter, 6-4, 6-4, at fourth doubles for Mepham (3-1) in Conference 3A.

Deer Park 4, Central Islip 3: Kristy Vitucci won at second singles over Nataly Fernandez, 6-2, 6-3, to lift Deer Park (7-0) in League IV.

Half Hollow Hills East 6, Ward Melville 1: Stephanie Chikvashvili defeated Jayne Green, 6-2, 6-2, at second singles to lead Hills East (8-0) in non-league.

GIRLS SOCCERCommack 2, Sachem East 0: Erin Neville scored the go-ahead goal on a 55-yard direct kick with 4:29 remaining in the first half to lead Commack (4-0) in Suffolk League I. Molly O'Callaghan scored in the second half.

Longwood 1, Brentwood 0: Deanna Hagen beat the goalkeeper to a loose ball and scored with 28:56 left for Longwood (1-1-2) in League I. Phallon Tullis-Joyce had nine saves, including a number of pivotal stops to preserve the shutout.

Northport 3, Lindenhurst 2: Natasha Albaneze scored in the 69th minute for Northport (4-0) in League II. Kristin Desmond's goal in the 51st minute tied it at 1, and Emily Robarge gave Northport a 2-1 lead in the 58th minute.
