Long Island Player of the Year: Rachel Arbitman, Hewlett, Soph.

Arbitman began the season with only one test left to ace in high school tennis and she passed with flying colors, winning the state championship. She capped an undefeated season by winning, 6-3, 6-0, over Caitlyn Ferrante of Yorktown in Latham on Oct. 29. She also helped lead Hewlett to the Nassau team final after jumping up to Conference I this season.
Suffolk Player of the Year: Rose Hayes, Westhampton, Fr.

Hayes won a back-and-forth Suffolk final, 2-6, 6-3, 6-3, over Emily Tannenbaum of Commack. Hayes was Westhampton's first county champion since 1998 and led her team to an undefeated season that culminated in a Long Island championship.[/ITALIC]
Lauren Cherkin, Half Hollow Hills East, Sr.

Keeping alive a streak of strong doubles play from Hills East, Cherkin and Alexis Huber won the Suffolk title, 6-2, 6-4 over Onalee Batcheller and Brooke DelPrete of Westhampton and reached the second round of the state tournament. Cherkin will attend Dartmouth College in the fall.

Gentile and Lauren Zola defeated all-comers in a highly contested bracket to win the Nassau doubles title. They defeated Cold Spring Harbor's Maddie Richmond and Nicolette Loeffler, 6-2, 6-3, in the final before going on to reach the quarterfinals at the state tournament.

Keeping alive a streak of strong doubles play from Hills East, Huber and Lauren Cherkin won the Suffolk title, 6-2, 6-4 over Onalee Batcheller and Brooke DelPrete of Westhampton and reached the second round of the state tournament.
Calista Sha, Friends Academy, Sr.

Sha was the top player for Friends Academy and reached the Nassau individual final before falling to Arbitman. She went on to win two matches and reach the quarterfinals at the state tournament.

The individual runner up in Suffolk went on to reach the quarterfinals at the state tournament. She was also the top player for a Commack team that went undefeated in League I and reached the Suffolk team final.
