10. Girls Tennis — Northport beats Half Hollow Hills West (Oct. 28)
Kristen Bomkamp beat Lauren Salzano, 6-3, 7-5, in the deciding third singles match to lead No. 19 Northport over No. 2 Half Hollow Hills West, 4-3, in the Suffolk semifinals. Northport went on to lose, 5-2, in the finals. The Tigers finished the season undefeated in their league and 11-1 overall. But because they play in the less competitive League II, they were given a No. 19 seed entering the tournament. Northport also edged No. 3 Westhampton in the second round and No. 11 Commack in the quarterfinals, both 4-3, to advance to its match against Hills West.
