Jorge Ortega’s pass found Corvin Pocasangre, who scored what proved to be the winning goal in the 63rd minute of No. 6 Lawrence’s 1-0 win over No. 3 Mineola in the Nassau Class A boys soccer quarterfinals on Thursday. Gabriel Rosales made five saves. Lawrence (9-3-1) will face No. 2 Floral Park in the semifinals at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday at Farmingdale State. Mineola ends its season with a 9-4-1 record.

Floral Park 2, Wheatley 1: Samuel Ammirati and David O’Shea each scored a goal for No. 2 Floral Park in its Nassau Class A quarterfinal win over No. 7 Wheatley. Daniel Marrero had an assist and Zach Sarcona made seven saves for Floral Park (13-1-3). Wheatley finished 8-3-4.

Locust Valley 6, Valley Stream South 1: Stefano Linardos had a hat trick in the second half to lead No. 1 Locust Valley over No. 8 Valley Stream South in the Nassau Class A quarterfinal. Lucas Mejia added two goals and an assist. Locust Valley (11-0-2) will face No. 4 Friends Academy in the semifinals at noon on Sunday at Farmingdale State. Valley Stream South finished 4-7-3.

GIRLS SOCCER

Eastport-South Manor 3, Smithtown East 2: Sophia Colavito scored two goals to lead Eastport-South Manor (9-3-4) in Suffolk II. Gia Da Cunha added a goal and Layla Bloxon had an assist. Lindsay Delgado scored a goal for Smithtown East (6-6-2).

FIELD HOCKEY

South Side 2, Seaford 1: Charlotte Testerman and Charlotte Thomson each scored a goal in the first half to lead No. 5 South Side over No. 4 Seaford in the Nassau Class A quarterfinals. Tara Cody made two saves. South Side (13-3-1) will visit No. 1 Garden City in the semifinals at 10 a.m. on Sunday. Abby Reder scored a goal and Catherine Clasen made two saves for Seaford, which finished 6-8.

BOYS VOLLEYBALL

Ward Melville 3, Connetquot 1: Eddie Shields had 13 kills to lead Ward Melville (8-5) in four sets, 25-21, 25-23, 16-25, 25-22, in Suffolk I. Liam Mischler and Christian Giordano each added 12 kills.

Mt. Sinai 3, Hampton Bays 2: Anthony Falco had seven kills and four aces to lead Mt. Sinai (5-7) to a 25-21, 25-18, 32-34, 19-25, 15-10 win in Suffolk I. Nate Ryan added 12 digs and Brian Vales had 12 kills.
