Lucas Aguilar, Division, Jr.

He was selected to Newsday’s All-Long Island Second Team for cross country. In the 1,600 meters, his personal record of 4:24.51 ranks eighth among returning athletes on LI. That time also ranked 38th in the state during the indoor season.

Anthony Anatol, Ward Melville, Sr.

Newsday’s defending Suffolk Runner of the Year from the cross country season is just as good on the track, as his 9:20.78 from the outdoor season in the 3,200 meters is the best time among returning Long Islanders.

Emerson Atkin, Commack, Sr.

He flew 45 feet, 3 inches in the triple jump during the outdoor season. When combining personal records between the indoor and outdoor seasons, that figure ranks third on LI entering the season.

Leroy Barrett, Roosevelt, Sr.

His personal-best 6.51 in the 55 dash ranks second on LI entering the season.

Joshua Buckley, Academy Charter, Soph.

He showed promise as a freshman in the winter in both the 55 and 300 and then continued to impress in the spring by running the sixth-best time among returners in the 200 (22.26). His 200 times forecast a big breakout as a 300 runner.

Jacob Butler, Long Island Lutheran, Sr.

Though he is committed to play wide receiver at Stanford next fall, he has decided to stick with track for his final year of high school — and for good reason. His 34.58 in the 300 is the second-best returning time on LI and ranked 11th in the state.

Andrew Byrnes, Miller Place, Sr.

He cleared 6-3 in the high jump during the outdoor season, which ranks third on LI entering the season.

He is fourth among returning Long Island runners in the 300 at 35.44.

Gueniel “Titan” Elysee, Huntington, Sr.

Maxwell Ferguson, Deer Park, Sr.

He flew 22-8 in the long jump during the outdoor season, which is third amongst returners on LI.

Evan Fraser, Patchogue-Medford, Sr.

He won the county championship in the 300 and continued to progress outdoors, winning the county title in the 200, as well. His 35.81 in the 300 is sixth amongst returning LIers.

Ian Frazer, Wantagh, Sr.

A Newsday All-Long Island First Team selection from the cross country season, he is even stronger in track. His 4:17.49 in the 1,600 from the outdoor season leads all of LI, while his 9:28.68 in the 3,200 is third.

Braeden Jackelow, Manhasset, Sr.

After running the fourth-best 1,600 time in this returning group during the spring (4:23.02), he continued to progress and was one of the best cross country runners on LI in the fall, earning a selection to Newsday’s All-LI Second Team. He is also the best returning steepler, which bodes well for him in the 3,200.

Zavier Jenkins, Floyd, Jr.

He flashed potential during the indoor season before breaking out in the spring, running the second-fastest time among returners (49.36) and winning a county title in the 400. That ranking forecasts a potential breakout in the 300.

Molenson Jnmary, Uniondale, Sr.

By flying 46-4 in the triple jump outdoors, he ranks second in the returning class on LI.

Jalen Josey, Holy Trinity, Sr.

The future centerfielder of Stony Brook University’s baseball team will bring those quick-twitch muscles and straightline speed with him to the track, where he is the fifth-best sprinter in the 55 on LI with a 6.54. He is also coming off a strong cross country season that saw him top out in the 5-kilometers at 15:49.9, which helped him earn a spot on Newsday’s All-LI First Team.

Sean Loggie, Chaminade, Sr.

He ranks second among LI returners in the 1,600 by just half a second at 4:17.99. He is coming off an injury-plagued cross country season in which he had a 16:23.1 in the 5-kilometers at Bowdoin Park — one of the toughest courses in the state. He returned from injury before the fall season ended and is ready to compete in both the 1,000 and the 1,600.

Leyton Mangiamele, Shoreham-Wading River, Sr.

His 22-9 ½ in the long jump outdoors makes him the second-best returner on LI and one of the 10 best returners in the state.

Anthony Morello, St. Anthony’s, Sr.

Dwayne Morgan, Riverhead, Sr.

His 7.86 in the 55 hurdles makes him the fifth-best returner on LI in the event. That time also ranked 32nd in the state among all competitors and 14th among returners. He is also LI’s fourth-best returner in the high hurdles for the outdoor season, showing that he can handle the height of the hurdles regardless of the race distance.

Cooper Mott, Friends Academy, Sr.

He cleared 6-4 in the high jump during the spring, making him Nassau’s best and LI’s second-best returning athlete in the event.

Khadin Muhammad, West Babylon, Sr.

He was named to Newsday’s All-LI boys track and field team for being the best triple jumper on the Island. When combining personal records from both the indoor and outdoor seasons, his 47-3 ½ from the outdoor season ranks fifth in the state among returning athletes.

Aidan Peterkin, Elmont, Sr.

Newsday’s defending Nassau Runner of the Year from the track and field season won the outdoor state title in the 400 and helped anchor Elmont’s 4 x 400 squad to state and Federation championships as well. His 34.26 is the best returning 300 mark in New York, making him the frontrunner to win the state and Federation titles in that event. He will once again lead the 4 x 400 relay, which ranked first in the state at several points during 2025.

Aidan Piracci, Commack, Sr.

Another Newsday All-LI Second Team selection from cross country, his 4:18.85 in the 1,600 from the outdoor season ranks third among returning LIers in the event.

One of LI’s best defensive backs is also one of its best hurdlers. He was sixth in the state during the outdoor season in the 400 hurdles, earning himself a selection to Newsday’s All-LI boys track team. Though 400 hurdles are intermediate hurdles, he handled the high hurdles well during the indoor season, as his 7.89 in the 55 hurdles is sixth on LI and 15th in the state among returners.

Emanuel Rosado, Sachem East, Sr.

His 6.53 in the 55 ranks him fourth on LI, but he is just three hundredths of a second shy of ranking second. He looks to get over that slight difference and climb further up the leaderboards this year.

Carlos Salazar, Half Hollow Hills West, Sr.

He is third in LI’s returning crop in the 300 with a 35.19.

Andrew Senf, Ward Melville, Jr.

A key piece of the Patriots cross country team that qualified for Nike Cross Nationals, he made the Newsday All-LI First Team this past cross country season. He does all three distance events, but his strongest times and rankings locally are in the 1,600 (4:23.74, sixth) and the 3,200 (9:29.08, fourth).
