Boys: Class B Playoff Preview
The top four seeds are as followed:
1. Floral Park- The 2010 runner-ups to Bellmore JFK have won 10 straight matches since an early-season loss to Jericho. They are perhaps the deepest team in this tournament with Jason Cortapasso, Will Wichart and Jahan Mirchandani forming a veteran core.
2. Bellmore JFK- The three-time defending champs always seem to have a little bit of magic up their sleeves, and despite losing their two best players to graduation, they still fought their way back to the Class B elite.
3. Roslyn- They have come down to earth since starting the season 5-0. Can they regain some of that early-season magic?
4. Jericho- With three straight losses to end the season, Sean Lohan and company must find a way to regroup.
The Wild Card:
No. 12 West Hempstead- They are flat-out scary as the No. 12 seed. Wins include a four-setter over Jericho and two sweeps apiece over No. 11 Lawrence and No. 10 Hewlett. On October 21, they took Bellmore JFK to the brink, losing 27-25 in the deciding fifth set. Prediction: They defeat No. 5 Plainedge in Thursday's opening round before taking Jericho to five sets in Saturday's quarters.
