In the upset of the evening, Bay Shore (3-6) defeated Connetquot (6-4) in three sets, 25-19, 27-25, 25-23, in League II play.

Connetquot was coming off impressive five-game wins over Lindenhurst and West Islip but were no match for the Marauders’ defensive tandem of  Amanda Sanders (left side) and Erika Dannenfelser (right side)

“Connetquot’s strength is on the wings, and my strongest blockers are on the outside,” Bay Shore coach Stasia DeBonis said. “That is why we match up well against them.”

DeBonis’ team also swept Connetquot back on September 26. Bay Shore, however, might be on the outside looking in come playoff time (barring an exemption that would give League II five playoff teams).
