St. Anthony's, the two-time CHSAA state champs, has long been the class of  the Catholic schools. But after losing their four best players to graduation, they have had their early-season struggles, losing to both Kellenberg and Holy Trinity.

Kellenberg beat the Friars in four sets on Sept. 20, riding Brittany Cafiero's 33 assists to victory. This past Saturday, they defeated Massapequa, 2-1, in the final of the Harborfields Tournament, proving they can hang with the elite public schools.

Holy Trinity swept St. Anthony's in their CHSAA opener back on Sept. 15 and are 3-0 in conference play. Jen Gries has combined for 50 digs in their past two wins.

And what was once a Friars-dominated conference has become a two-team race.
