Things are starting to tighten up in Suffolk League II: Bay Shore took a four-game win over Smithtown West earlier this evening, 25-21, 21-25, 25-18, 25-23. Bay Shore (4-1 ) was led by James DiGiovanni's 40 assists and now takes sole possession of second place behind undefeated Smithtown East (5-0), while Smithtown West (2-2) falls to .500 in conference.

In League III action, Eastport-South Manor moved to 6-0 with a three-game win over Westhampton. ESM has no equals in the small-school ranks; if they don't get hit by the injury bug down the stretch, there should be little to stop them from earning a trip upstate, where they could do some serious damage.
