Lindenhurst middle blocker Travis VonHolt felt it was time to put his stamp on the county final.
With his Bulldogs up two games-to-one and 12-7 in Game 4, he stuffed a Northport kill attempt at the net, turned around, and did his patented double fist pump as his teammates mobbed around him.
They were not about to let this lead slip away.
VonHolt had seven kills and four blocks and Gerard Gigante had 12 kills and 22 digs as No. 1 Lindenhurst beat No. 2 Northport Wednesday at Longwood High School, 21-25, 25-21, 25-22, 25-16, to win their first Suffolk Division I title.
"Since seventh grade, we've been working for this," VonHolt said. "We have the perfect season. This is really a dream come true."
Lindenhurst (17-0) will play the Massapequa-Plainview JFK winner for the Long Island championship Saturday at noon at Hofstra.
After a swapping a pair of 25-21 games, Northport (16-2) broke a 13-13 tie in Game 3 on a block from Pat Gathman.
Brady Ambro's kill extended the Tigers' lead to two, although Lindenhurst would score 10 of the next 14 points. Four points later, Gigante buzzed a kill from the left side to give the Bulldogs a two games-to-one lead.
