Wildes, Walsh give OLMA girls title
Katie Wildes had 11 kills and Olivia Walsh had 17 assists and six aces as Our Lady of Mercy won the CHSAA Class A girls volleyball championship Saturday with a 3-1 win over Maria Regina at Cardinal Spellman.
OLMA (5-10) dropped the first game, 21-25, but swept the final three 25-20, 25-17, 25-12.
"We just had to minimize our errors," said OLMA coach Tara Kuhn. "It was just the excitement of being in the championship game. They just had to calm down."
Our Lady of Mercy won all three of its pool matches, besting St. John's Prep, Preston and Maria Regina.
Seniors Jamie Cotone added three kills, three aces and six digs and Julia Felicione added three digs and six aces in the win.
