Matt Zeterberg scored five goals, including the game winner on a fast break off a feed from Zach Fredericks with 1:29 left in overtime to lift Babylon to a 10-9 win over Lindenhurst in non-league boys lacrosse Thursday. Fredericks had a goal and two assists and Harry Dittmeir added three goals in the win.

Baldwin 9, Kellenberg 8: Mike Ainbinder scored his fourth goal off a pass from Austin Valenti with 4:40 remaining to lift Baldwin in non-league. Brett Diadego had 15 saves and scored to tie the game at 7-7 with 1:25 left in the third quarter.

Copiague 5, Deer Park 4: Anthony Melek (two goals) scored off a feed from Justin Wright with 1:10 to give Copiague a win in its season opener and the first career varsity win for coach Ken Berry. Wright scored off a pass from Kyle Beck with 7:38 left to tie the score at 4.

Division 4, Bellmore JFK 3: Devin Votta scored with 1:22 left to tie the score at 3 for Division in non-league. Shane McLaughlin led Division with two goals and Ryan Gaspari had 13 saves.

South Side 6, Syosset 4: Gerard Mahoney scored with 6:48 left to give South Side a 5-4 lead in non-league. Peter Clark scored with 8:35 remaining to tie the score at 4 for South Side, while Chandler Baylis had 10 saves.

GIRLS LACROSSE

Mepham 11, Bethpage 10: Ashley Appel had three goals and three assists and Emily Schmitt added three goals for Mepham in Nassau Conference 3B.

New Hyde Park 20, Herricks 8: Jillian Graziano had six goals and five assists, Kristen Lynch had five goals and three assists and junior Laura Rice had a career-high five goals to lead New Hyde Park in Conference 3B.

Rocky Point 7, Bayport Blue Point 6: Alyssa Milano scored three goals and tallied an assist for Rocky Point in its Division II opener. Alyssa Guido added two goals and an assist.

BASEBALL

Long Beach 6, Farmingdale 3: Jack Fagan scored Matt Firpo for the go-ahead run in the bottom of the sixth to make it 4-3 and Danny Mayper had six strikeouts in four innings for Long Beach in non-league.

Smithtown Christian 6, Southold 1: Dylan Prince struck out six and walked none in a five-hitter to lead Smithtown Christian in Suffolk League IX. Timmy Gorton went 4-for-4 with two doubles and five RBIs in the win.

SOFTBALL

Babylon 5, North Babylon 0: Tiana Giuliano struck out seven and walked three in a one-hitter to lift Babylon in non-league. Christine Desiderio went 3-for-4 with two runs scored, Brianna Goodfellow was 2-for-4 with two runs scored, and Nicole Marro had two hits and scored a run.

Clarke 7, Oyster Bay 2: Danielle Ferrara was 3-for-4 with two doubles and an RBI to lead Clarke in a non-league.

Garden City 12, West Hempstead 4: Victoria D'Antone hit a three-run run home run and Claudia Holub went 5-for-5 with a walk to lift Garden City non-league.

Huntington 2, Center Moriches 0: Jackie Herrington struck out 10 in a five-hitter and went 1-for-3 with a run-scoring double for Huntington in non-league.

BOYS TENNIS

St. John the Baptist 4, Kellenberg 3:Jack Campo won in third singles, 6-2, 6-7, 13-2, and Tim Dister won 4-6, 7-6, 13-7 in fourth singles to lift St. John the Baptist in CHSAA.

Bay Shore 4, Patchogue-Medford 3:Steven Mascialle defeated Dan Mureugalli 6-4, 4-6, 6-2 at third singles to win it for Bay Shore in non-league.

Whitman 6, East Islip 1: Brandon Stone defeated in Nick Beuer, 6-2, 6-0, in first singles for Whitman in non-league.
