Al Montoya day-to-day with strained hamstring
The Islanders went from three goaltenders to one in a matter of hours. Evgeni Nabokov (groin) will be out as much as month after being injured in the first period of Thursday's 4-3 win over the Canadiens.
And now Al Montoya, who hasn't played since beind jostled around in a 4-3 overtime loss to the Avalanche on Nov. 10, is listed as day-to-day with a strained hamstring. Montoya practiced today, but he didn't dress for Thursday's game.
This means Rick DiPietro is the man in goal for the near future, and the Islanders actually need a call-up -- Anders Nilsson is likely to be recalled from Bridgeport and back up DiPietro on Saturday when the Bruins come to the Coliseum, since Kevin Poulin played in tonight's 3-2 overtime loss to the Connecticut Whale.
