Islanders defenseman Andy Sutton has received a two-game suspension for his hit last night on Pittsburgh's Pascal Dupuis that resulted in a five-minute major for boarding and a game misconduct.

Sutton had a disciplinary hearing with the league earlier today.

Based on Sutton's annual salary, he will forfeit $31, 088.08 as a result of the two games without pay.

Sutton will be eligible to return January 26 against Washington.

In a corresponding roster move to clear space for a defenseman to be called up, Nate Thompson was placed on waivers. If he clears waivers, then he'll report to Bridgeport and Dustin Kohn will be called up for tomorrow's game against Florida
