Both Mark Streit and Kyle Okposo underwent successful surgery yesterday  at the Cleveland Clinic. Shoulder specialist Anthony Minaci, the same doctor who repaired Doug Weight's shoulder back in March, performed both procedures.

Streit suffered a shoulder injury one week ago during the team's intra-squad scrimmage and is expected to miss six months with a torn labrum, torn rotator cuff and dislocation in his left shoulder. Okposo sustained a torn labrum in his right shoulder and is expected to return sometime in December.

*Rob Schremp, who left the game with backs spasms Friday, underwent x-rays on his back today and is day-to-day.

**Also just spoke with Zach Parise about the type of player/person the Islanders are getting in Mike Mottau.

"He's one of the greatest guys I've ever played with. He's a great team guy, really funny, really good in the room, and as a player he was really reliable for us," Parise said.

Parise also said he was disappointed to hear the news about his friend and summer training partner Kyle Okposo:

"When I heard I just felt really bad for him," Parise said. "He worked so hard this summer and was really excited coming into the season. Now he doesn't even get to play."
