Danny Briere has hearing on Monday for hit on Nielsen Saturday night
The Phialdelphia Flyers confirmed that Danny will have a hearing at 10 a.m. Monday with the league for the nasty hit he delivered to Frans Nielsen's head with one minute remaining in the third period--one that is almost certain to earn him a suspension.
Briere, who will have his hearing over the phone rather than in person, was given a five-minute cross-checking major and a game misconduct for the play.
Daniel Carcillo also ganged up on Nielsen after the initial blow from Briere. Here's his explanation after the game:
"[Nielsen] was talking to Danny and I don't know what they were saying but I knew something was going to happen, so I just went in there and hit him."
Asked if he was taking Briere's place, Carcillo responded:
"Pretty much, yeah. Rather be me than Danny Briere, right?"
