Journeyman NHL/AHL center Eric Boguniecki, who played 11 games for the Islanders back in 2006-07, has been named an assistant coach for the Bridgeport Sound Tigers.

Boguniecki, 36, will join Brent Thompson behind the bench with the Islanders AHL affiliate. The West Haven, CT native actually played under Thompson last season with the Alaska Aces of the ECHL.

During his 12-year professional career Boguniecki spent stints with Florida, St. Louis, Pittsburgh and the Islanders, as well as several AHL affiliates.
