This is not Greg Mauldin's first go-around at the NHL level--he played six games for Columbus back in 2003-04--but tonight will be his Islanders debut.

Six years removed from his first  NHL game, Mauldin said he felt like he had a better idea of what to expect.

"I was only 21 years old then so I was still a little starstruck," said Mauldin, who had 24 goals and 27 assists in 74 games for Bridgeport this season.

Mauldin said he'll serve whatever role the team needs to contribute.

"I just want to show people that I can play at this level. I can be a third or fourth-line energy guys, I can kill penalties, block shots, play 15 minutes or five minutes. I was just waiting for the opportunity and here it is."
