Home-grown talent
Smithtown native and St. Anthony's grad Tony Romano made his third trip to Islanders mini-camp and fifth overall. He played a full season with Bridgeport last year and finished the season with three assists in his last four games.
"I got better as I went on," he said. "I'm trying to build off last season and see where this year takes me. Ever since I was a little kid, I wanted to grow up to be an Islander. There were so many players I grew up idolizing, role models as a little kid. It's really exciting to me."
