Islanders eliminated from playoff race
As mentioned earlier, all Boston had to do was earn a point in tonight's game against Washington for the Islanders to be officially eliminated from the playoff hunt.
The Bruins fell 3-2 to the Eastern Conference-leading Caps in OT, but in doing so earned a point.
That means the Islanders miniscule chance of making the playoffs is now zilch.
Islanders are 4-1 in their past five games, so they have shown little signs of packing it in. Should be interesting to see how the rest of the season plays out...
