The Islanders are bringing defenseman Dougie Hamilton out to Long Island for a pre-draft visit, Newsday has learned.

Hamilton led Niagara defensemen in scoring  with 12 goals and 46 assists in 67 games for the IceDogs. The 6-foot-4 defenseman finished fourth in the NHL's Central Scouting Bureau's final rankings.

For the second straight year, the Islanders have the fifth overall pick in the draft. Last June, they selected Swiss winger Nino Niederreiter at No. 5.
