Doug Houda and Brian Wiseman were named assistant coaches under new head coach Lane Lambert, by the Islanders, the team announced Tuesday.

Houda spent the past six seasons as an assistant coach with the Detroit Wings after 10 years and a 2011 Stanley Cup win as an assistant with the Boston Bruins. 

Houda also played two seasons with the Islanders as a defenseman (1996-98) and totaled 13 points (three goals). He appeared in 561 NHL games with the Isles, Red Wings, Hartford Whalers, Kings, Sabres and Ducks.

Wiseman was an assistant coach for the Edmonton Oilers for three seasons after spending eight seasons in the same position at the University of Michigan. He was drafted by the Rangers in the 12th round (257th overall) of the 1991 NHL Entry Draft.
