The Islanders on Tuesday revealed the eight finalists for their fan-designed third jersey for the 2027-28 NHL season.
The finalists were chosen from 80,490 fan submissions for the contest that began on July 8.
The eight finalists, selected by a committee, have been placed into four brackets based on design trends:
- Lighthouse vs. Lighthouse
- Fisherman vs. Fisherman
- NY vs. NY
- ISLES vs. ISLANDERS
The first round of voting at newyorkislanders.com/fanvote will be open from Wednesday, Aug. 12 at 12 p.m. to Friday, Aug. 14 at 5 p.m.
After that, voting for the four remaining jerseys will be held from Saturday to Aug. 15, and then the final round with the last two entrants will take place Aug. 18-20. The winning entry will be announced in the following days, according to the team.
The eight finalist designs include two versions with the Islanders' old fisherman logo, two featuring a lighthouse, two with "ISLANDERS" or "ISLES" across the chest and two with an "NY" logo with the "Y" depicted as a hockey stick.

The creator of the overall winning design will receive a team-signed third jersey and tickets to the 2027-28 game in which the jersey will make its on-ice debut. The jersey cannot be used in the 2026-27 season because it takes two years to make an NHL jersey and get the design approved by the league.
“The goal is ultimately to give the fans something that they really want. That was the whole intention here,” Kelly Cheeseman, president of business operations for the Islanders and UBS Arena, told Newsday in a telephone interview. “So we're excited to see this final debate and hopefully land on something that's going to be incredibly popular and most important, exciting for the players and the fans together, and I think that's what makes the jersey magical.”
The Islanders had to push back their timeline for the voting and chose to expand from five to eight finalists due to the amount of submissions they received.
“We want to absolutely thank the fans for their support,” Cheeseman said. “We have had to push our timeline here a little bit to get through all of the submissions. I mean, we had over 80,000 real submissions from real people, so we wanted to give it its due, and it took about an extra week to sort through all these things and reset the format to make sure that we really gave the fans what they're looking for to have the final debate and vote for the final jersey.”
