Islanders general manager Garth Snow said there was still a guy in the first round he wanted to get and now we know who that is: Brock Nelson.

Snow traded two second-round picks--No. 35 and No.58--to acquire the 30th spot from Chicago to take Nelson.

Quick scouting report on Nelson:

He's a 6-3, 205-pound center who scored 53 goals in 31 games for Warroad High School in Warroad, Minnesota. He'll play at University of North Dakota next year.

"It's great. Just to be taken by anybody is an honor and especially in the first round," Nelson said.

How would he describe his game?

"I'm able to make plays and score in offensive zone and my hockey sense is pretty high. I'm able to be accountable in my own zone as well."

Nelson is also the nephew of Dave Christian, a member of the 1980 Olympic gold-medal winning team. He said "Uncle Dave" has been a great influence and even gave him a sports psychology book to glance over as he embarks on his NHL career.

***Nice team touch: As soon as Nelson completed his media interviews he got a phone call from fellow Minnesota guy Kyle Okposo. "That was pretty cool. I watched him when he was playing for the {University of Minnesota] Gophers."
