Isles, Sean Backman agree to deal

Sean Backman, a 26-year-old forward who scored 18 points in 67 games with the Islanders AHL club, the Bridgeport Sound Tigers, has agreed to a one-year, two-way deal.
The 5-foot-8 Cos Cob, Conn., native played four years at Yale University. Terms were not announced, but Backman, a restricted free agent, earned $45,000 in the AHL last season.
