Isles sign Shane Sims to an ATO
As expected, the Islanders were forced to since another defenseman to an emergency-basis Amateur Tryout because of Jack Hillen's shoulder injury.
The third signee in three games?
Ohio State's Shane Sims, who finished with three goals and 16 assists in 37 games during his senior season for the Buckeyes.
The 5-11, 192-pound Sims was actually a fifth-round pick (126th overall) of the Islanders back in 2006, but never signed. At least there is some familiarity with him within the organization.
The 22-year-old East Amherst, NY native will make his NHL debut tonight with the Islanders in Philly for the season finale.
