Islanders defenseman Jack Hillen, who was hit in the face by an Alex Ovechkin-slapshot last night, is out 6-8 weeks.
Hillen, who will be discharged from the hospital tomorrow, suffered a broken jaw and damaged teeth. He had surgery late last night and early this morning.
Hillen was hit in the mouth full force during the first period of last night's 7-2 loss to Washington and lay on the ice for several minutes dripping blood before being helped off the ice by a team trainer.
Very scary injury for Hillen and a very tough blow for the Islanders. Hillen has been probably the most pleasant surprise for the team on defense and they will miss him in the lineup dearly.
Dustin Kohn has ben called back up from Bridgeport and will make the upcoming road trip with the team.
