Jon Sim agrees to two-way contract
Veteran forward Jon Sim, who spent the past three seasons with the Islanders, re-signed with the team today, agreeing to a one-year, two-way deal.
The 32-year-old Nova Scotia native has served as an effective agitator and provided the Islanders with some much-need snarl plenty of times this past year. And after a disappointing 2008-09 season during which he was demoted to Bridgeport, Sim is coming off a pretty good 2009-10 campaign in which he finished with 13 goals and 9 assists.
So what's with the two-way contract?
The Islanders likely want to provide big, bruising youngsters like Matt Martin and Jesse Joensuu the opportunity to compete for a roster spot in training camp.
