Jon Sim clears waivers; bound for Europe
Jon SIm, who was placed on unconditional waivers yesterday, cleared this afternoon and his contract has been terminated, the Islanders confirmed.
Sim is now free to play in Europe, where he'll join Fribourg-Gotteron of the Swiss National League A for the remainder of the season.
Former Blackhawks goaltender Cristobal Huet also plays for Fribourg-Gotteron.
Sim, 33, was suspended yesterday and essentially released after refusing to report to the Islanders AHL affiliate Bridgeport Tuesday in what would've been his fourth minor-league stint this season.
