The Islanders announced that 20-year-old rookie goaltender Kevin Poulin is done for the rest of the season with a dislocated left knee cap that will require surgery.

Poulin went down in a freak accident during warmups last night, catching his left skate in a rut on the ice and falling into the crease. He left Nassau Coliseum last night on crutches and underwent an MRI today to determine the nature and severity of the injury.

Mikko Koskinen, who was promptly thrust into his NHL debut last night, will start tomorrow against Montreal. Joel Martin will back him up.
