Former Islanders goaltender Martin Biron gets the start tonight against his old team.

Rangers head coach John Tortorella said he wanted to get  Biron into the first game of a back-to-back set.

After what he described as a "weird year, a tough year," with the Islanders last season, Biron has had a steadying presence for the Rangers in his role as a backup to starter Henrik Lundqvist.

"He's brought a steadiness in his game," Tortorella said. "He's a good teammate, he understands his role and he's won some games for us."

Biron is 5-2-0 with a 2.15 GAA and .917 save percentage this season.
