Bridgeport power forward Matt Martin has been called up for the Islanders on an emergency recall basis.

Martin, who was on the bubble to make the Islanders out of training camp until set back with a foot injury, has one goal and two assists in seven games for the Sound Tigers this season.

The 21-year-old Windsor, Ontario native was recalled for an ailing Trent Hunter (foot) and Michael Grabner (still unspecified).

Hunter took a shot to his foot  in the team's OT loss to Pittsburgh Friday October 15. After missing two games, Hunter returned to the lineup but saw limited ice time--9:32 against the Lightning and 9:21 against the Panthers. Assuming it's the same injury that is giving him problems.

The Islanders have not yet disclosed Grabner's injury, but I think I saw him icing his left leg after Saturday's game. Will provide an update once I receive word.

Newsday's John Jeansonne is covering practice today, so he'll have more...
