Matt Moulson talks Streit
Guarantee if there has been anyone whose past couple of days have been as hard as Mark Streit's it's Matt Moulson.
Moulson, who was involved on the play where Streit sustained an injury to his left shoulder, said his "stomach turned" when he saw his teammate in the trainer's room since the game. Anyone who witnessed the play where Moulson (barely) hit Streit and the 32-year-old defenseman fell awkwardly into the boards could recognize the incident as a freak acccident, but Moulson still felt bad regardless.
"I try not to blame myself, it's hockey. But any team your involved in something with a teammate, or any player in a situation of that severity it's hard," Moulson said.
Moulson said he talked to Streit a lot yesterday and that made him feel much better.
"I was worried that he was gonna say, 'What the heck happened?' but he said 'Don't worry about it. I fell awkwardly and I don't know what happened."
***Moulson also made a good point about Streit, whose value to the Islanders is hard to quantify:
"I don't know if there's anyone in the league with as much responsibility on a team as mark over the past couple of season."
Hard to argue with that.
