Montoya starts vs. Penguins, explanation for all these ATO's

 Jack Capuano announced that Al Montoya will start tonight against the Penguins. Capuano said that the Islanders haven't had enough practice time for him to feel comfortable starting Rick again after Wednesday's 3-2 loss in Boston.

Jack Hillen is officially "questionable" but considering the ATO agreement signed by OHL defenseman Jamie Doornbosch, expect the latter to make his NHL debut.

I asked Capuano if he knows anything about Doornbosch. His reply:

"I know his name is Jamie. I just shook his hand and introduced myself out there on the ice."

So why all these emergency-basis ATO's?

Hard to believe, but the Islanders do not have a single defenseman left in Bridgeport signed to a two-way contract.

Per the rules of the emergency-basis ATO agreement, Doornbosch is only eligible to play tonight. So expect a new guy for tomorrow's season finale in Philadelphia.
