Jack Capuano said Evgeni Nabokov (lower body) is day-to-day. Nabokov didn't skate today and Capuano said, "You probably won't see him for the next day or two," after Nabokov suffered the injury in the first period in Pittsburgh on Thursday and made it through regulation and overtime before giving way to Rick DiPietro.

DiPietro, meanwhile, may "get his opportunity soon," according to the coach. Capuano does not divulge the goaltender until the day of the game, but with Al Montoya having been in street clothes for the last two games and DiPietro coming on for the shootout on Thursday, signs point to DiPietro getting the call against the Sharks at the Coliseum on Saturday.

F Nino Niederreiter (groin) was on the ice before the Isles practice today at IceWorks, then stayed on to stretch and do some individual drills with his teammates. That was the first time the 19-year-old rookie has done anything with the full group since he suffered his injury on Sept. 30.

D Andrew MacDonald (hip surgery) was off the ice for a scheduled rest.
