Niederreiter sits again today vs. Devils, but no plans to send him to juniors
Nino Niederreiter is healthy, according to the Islanders, but he will be a healthy scratch for the fourth straight game today in Newark against the Devils. The 19-year-old rookie is not eligible to play in the AHL -- his two-week conditioning stint there recently is permissible to rehab an injury -- so the only other option is for the Isles to send Niederreiter back to Portland of the WHL, but that is also not in their plans.
"Internal decisions," was how Jack Capuano termed Niederreiter being scratched again. Marty Reasoner sits again today and Al Montoya, who made 22 saves and looked sharp in Friday's 1-0 loss, will start again.
